Please help us welcome our newest provider to our family practice, Abigail Eley, ARNP. She received her doctorate of nursing from the University of Florida after receiving her bachelor’s in nursing at Florida Southern University. Like me, she is a native Floridian and has a large family. Her arrival opens up our office schedules and will increase our ability to accommodate long established and new patients. I am eager to have another provider who is committed to the mission of the family practice and also eager to build strong relationships with both our staff at PCPG and with all of our wonderful patients. I am thankful for the loyalty and the faith so many in our community have entrusted in me and my practice. Thank you, everyone. And we look forward to further expansion and community building efforts.
On February 28, 2014, our practice was notified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) that we had received the highest level of recognition as a Patient Centered Medical Home. Our mission has always been to focus on the patients, creating an environment that facilitates and promotes their optimum health and wellness. The NCQA national program is aimed at getting all primary care offices to function more like medical homes. The goal is to improve the quality of care while managing the costs of delivering that care.
Level 3 is the highest level a practice can achieve and we are the ONLY medical practice in Alachua County to receive a Level 3 Recognition. It acknowledges our three physicians: Elizabeth Sanders, DO, Deena O’Toole, MD and Julia Harris, MD.
Primary Care Physicians of Gainesville decided to transition to a paperless office with a fully integrated electronic medical record 10 years ago. We were early adopters in our community. By investing in the electronic medical record (EHR), we lowered the operational costs for the business by reducing the amount of staff required to “chase charts”. We were able to redirect those savings into investing in the EHR upgrades and modules. This improved our electronic claims and communication with your insurance company. It has helped us clearly understand each patient’s benefits by creating an interface with each insurance carrier. The EHR has also allowed us to share confidential information in a protected way with our specialists and the hospitals. This expedites your information being received so that your care proceeds uninterrupted. The whole purpose is to optimize the patients’ experience and to provide them with the best care possible.
All of these things have allowed us to apply and be recognized by NCQA for our efforts and the high quality of our care. It also acknowledges the patients’ participation in their own care. Thank you for allowing us to be your physicians and for making Primary Care Physicians of Gainesville your Medical Home.
I was born in Ohio, but have lived in Gainesville since age 6. My undergraduate, medical and residency education were all through the University of Florida – GO GATORS! My career has consisted of serving my home community. I am board certified in Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. I share my life with my husband of over 20 years, our now teenage son, 3 chickens, 2 ferrets, 2 cats and a corgi.
